We have a couple hundred clients running a WinForms client of ours that uses ActiveReports, and our app has been out for a number of years. We have had 2 clients report a problem with the Duplex setting, both saying it is come up recently, since we upgraded to ActiveReports v17.

They set their Windows Default printer as Duplex, then view a report. Then they print the report using a call to SectionReport.Document.Print passing in true for the ShowPrintDialog parameter. In the PrintDialog box that shows, they change the printer to one that is not set to Print on Both Sides. When they print to this Printer it still prints out as Duplex.

We are not able to reproduce this problem internally. When we print in-house and switch printers, it honors that new printer’s Duplex settings. We have also given these clients code that manually sets the printer’s Duplex property to simplex, and that does not work, it still prints Duplex.

So, for these 2 clients, it appears that if the Default Printer is duplex, then we can’t ever not print Duplex no matter what we try.

Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions to try to fix this?

    Hi Mark,

Based on the information you have mentioned. I tried to reproduce this issue at my end. However, I wasn’t able to reproduce this issue at my end as well. As this seems to be an issue specific those two clients. Can you please provide us with the following information so we try our best to replicate the environments and see if we are able to reproduce these issues at our end.

    1. Operating Systems(of each client)
    2. .Net version and Target Framework of your application
    3. Application Type
    4. Printer Information such as Printer Model Number.
    5. Any other information that you might find essential for us to replicate this issue.

Ideally, we require steps to reproduce the issue with/without a sample application but since the issue isn’t reproducible at your end as well please share information on the above mentioned pointers or any information you find necessary to reproduce the issue so we can replicate the issue at our end and investigate further on this.

I would also suggest you ask the clients to test with a different machine and then with different printers as well to see if they are able to reproduce the issue and then share their observations with us.

    Regards,

    Akshay
