Selecting value from dropdownlist removes formula

    Hi

We have a problem. We have a cell with celltype comoboxcelltype, and we use a formula to add items to this combobox. Until now no problem. At start of the program we see the values and everything works fine. Until we select a value, on that moment the formula disappears.

As this combobox is dependent on another cell in the spread we need to keep this formula.

How can we work around this?

I did a test in a simple form with just a combobox cell, with fixed values, a formula to decide which value is selected (this is not the real use case!) and a dump of the formulatext. See attached.

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your issue.

The sample you provided does not have ComboBoxCell. We tried to replicate your scenario but we are unable to replicate this issue.

Could you please provide the correct stripped-down sample? So, that we can replicate this issue and assist you better.

    Best Regards,

    Nitin

sorry, I just exported the form but didn’t realize half of the entries were removed.

I now exported the whole solution

    to be complete (in case it disappears again);

Version of spread.net is 16.2.0.1475 (we cannot update it currently in this phase of our project)

    The sheet looks like this:

    Hi,

Still, you have not provided the stripped-down sample. Could you please provide it? So, that we can investigate this issue. We tried to replicate this issue by following your image but failed to replicate it.

If possible please provide the stripped-down sample.

    Regards,

    Nitin

I think I do not understand what you mean with a stripped down sample

There is no code involved in this test:

Cell B3 contains a combobox with 3 items, and the formula ‘A3’ to select the value based on cell A3… The formulatext is printed in cell C3.

as soon as I select a value from the combobox, the formula disappears (and cell C3 shows #N/B)

    Hi,

    Apologize for the misunderstanding.

We tried to replicate your issue but we are not able to replicate this at our end.

The ComboBox cell updates its selected value as per the other cell where it is dependent.

But changing the Selected item from ComboBox doesn’t remove the formula i.e., the formula doesn’t disappear.

Please refer the attached gif for the same:

We have tested in version 16 and in the latest version 17. But unable to replicate this issue. Please let us know if we are missing any steps.

    Regards,

    Nitin

Looking at your example, and that seems to work fine.

The only difference with my example is that I show the formula in C3 so that I have a direct view of the formula. =FormulaText(C2)

I will have a closer look to see if I missed something

    Hi Ellie,

We tried at our end too, by setting =FormulaText(range). But the formula is not disappearing

Could you please provide a gif for the process that you followed? So, that we can replicate this issue at our end to provide a better resolution.

    Best regards,

    Nitin
