Hi,

The images are getting enlarged after saved and viewed in excel application. The image which correctly fits inside the merged cell in the grapecity spread sheet designer with the size mode as stretch and the vertical and horizontal alignment as center is getting bigger when viewed in excel after saving it as an xlsx file. As we are exporting lot of files into excel these images are getting bigger and overlaping their borders.

Attached the video for reference, please look into the issue.

    Hi,

We discussed this issue with the developers. Here’s what they said:

It works by design. In Spread, ImageCellType paint the image inside cell; then the border will overlap the image. When we export to XLSX, the image will be exported as shape (picture). Because the shape is in higher layer, shape will overlap border and then, user will see the border as thinner.

You can move the shape to other place to see that the border is exported as it is.

Let us know if you have any other issues.

    Hi,

As these images are getting enlarged and overlapping these borders which doesn’t looks good when exported, can we expect any changes to avoid this behavior in any future releases?

    Hi,

As mentioned in the earlier post, the images are not enlarged. When using ImageCellType, the Image occupies the entire cell. The borders are also drawn inside the cell. So, in Spread the border overlaps with the image.

However, when an Image in a cell is exported to Excel, it is exported as a Picture (Shape). Since Shape is drawn on a higher layer the Image overlaps the Border and it appears to be thinner.

We also discussed with the developers if this can be changed. However, even if the Image size is adjusted by considering Border width, the issue will not be resolved due to differences in design of Spread’s border. Also, changing this behavior will be a breaking change. So, this will not be changed.

Instead of using ImageCellType you can directly add a Shape with Image (instead of using ImageCellType). The Shape API of Spread is modeled after Excel’s Shapes so there will be no difference in the exported image.

    Hi,

I can see the behavior in the video, but to better understand, could you please provide the following information:

    1. Which platform are you using for Spread.NET, such as WPF, ASP.NET, or WinForms?

    2. Can you specify the exact version of Spread.NET 14 that you are using?

Having the above information will assist us in better understanding and investigating the behavior.

    Regards,

    Priyam

    Hi Manognya,

Could you please let us know what are you using Spread.NET with? Spread.NET is a Spreadsheet product for .NET. It can be used with ASP.NET WebForms, WinForms and WPF. So, kindly let us know if you are using Spread.NET with ASP.NET webforms, winforms, or wpf. It would help us to investigate the issue more precisely.

It is for WinForms and the video is recorded on v14 but we are currently using v16 where in the designer it’s still the same
