Launch into backstage view and dynamically disable back button

    I would like to launch our winforms application to initially have the backstage view displayed. The only way I have found to acheive this is by putting the following in my Form’s .Load handler. Is there a better way?

    C1BackstageView1.DroppedDown = True

    I would also like the Backstage View’s back/ button (which returns the user to the ribbon) disabled. This would keep the user “locked” in the backstage view until they create or open a file. I have not found any way to manipulate the back button. How can I acheive this?

    Thank you,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Setting the “DroppedDown” property in the “Form.Load” event handler for opening the BackstageView on startup is the correct way.

    We have shared your other requirement (disabling the back button) with the development team to get their insights on it. We will let you know the updates as soon as possible.

    Hi Andrew,

    Unfortunately, as per the development team, there is currently no way to disable the back button in the C1BackstageView. The development team has considered this as an enhancement request and added it to their to-do list. The ETA for the same is the 2023v3 release. We will let you know the updates as soon as possible.

    I have found that programmatically opening the backstage view as described above breaks Tooltip functionality on the C1Ribbon. I will share details in my other open issue:

    Was this addressed in 2023v3?

    Hi Andrew,

    Unfortunately, this enhancement did not make it for the 2023v3 release. The development team is currently evaluating it against all other feature requests and planning it for the 2024v1 release. We will let you know as soon as this enhancement is available.

    Thanks, and Kind Regards,

    Kartik
