How to Download, Install, and License ActiveReports.NET

ActiveReports.NET is our powerful industry-leading reporting tool that enables developers to create sophisticated reports for their .NET applications. This walkthrough guide will help you understand how to download, install, and license ActiveReports.NET on your machine.

Step 1: Downloading the Installer

To get started, you need to download the ActiveReports.NET installer:

  1. Go to the ActiveReports.NET Download Page and enter your Work Email Address.
  2. Once you have read the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy, check the box and click submit to begin your download.

Step 2: Installing ActiveReports.NET

Once the installer is downloaded, your screen should look similar to this.

Follow the steps below to install ActiveReports.NET:

  1. Click the downloaded installer or navigate to your Downloads Folder and Run the ActiveReports Installer to open the installation wizard.
  2. The installation wizard will show a Welcome screen. Read the End User License Agreement carefully and if you agree with the terms, check the box and click "Next" to proceed.
  3. You can review the predetermined Installation Directory or click on the three dots at the end to enter a custom path. If you wish to install Visual Studio Templates, select the corresponding checkboxes. Once you have made your selections, click "Next" to continue.
  4. The installer will now begin the installation process. Sit back and wait for it to complete, or dive into some of our demos for report inspiration.
  5. After the installation finishes, follow the instructions for your use case:
  • If you are a trial user, Congratulations, you have successfully installed ActiveReports.NET! Your trial License Key has already been applied
  • If you have purchased your license, please select the Activate Now check box and click Close. The License Manager will show. Select Activate on your new version of ActiveReports.NET and paste your License key. Hit activate, and congratulations, you can begin using your new industry-leading reporting solution

ActiveReports Utilities and Entries

Upon successful installation, you will have access to various utilities that come with ActiveReports.NET. These utilities include:

  • Standalone Designer and Viewer Applications: These applications allow you to create and view reports outside your development environment
  • Import Tool: The import tool assists in importing existing reports from Microsoft Access (mdb/accbd), Crystal Reports (rpt), SQL Server Reporting Services (rdl), and ActiveReports Section Reports (rpx) to ActiveReports RDL Reports (rdlx)
  • License Manager: This tool helps you manage your ActiveReports.NET license
  • Visual Studio Integration: Utilities will be installed directly into Visual Studio, which allow you to create and edit reports inside Visual Studio. Additionally, choose from project templates to quickly and easily start new .NET projects with ActiveReports already included and ready to use
  • Localization Resources: Resources for supporting multiple languages in the Report Designer and Viewer
