C1gridview check box becomes text field

    I have two more problems that I'm unable to find the answer to.

    Problem one

    <wijmo:C1ComboBox ID="cboType" runat="server"></wijmo:C1ComboBox>

    The user types something into this combobox. Alas, the new value does not reflect in the code behind:
    MsgBox(cboType.Text)

    Problem Two

    I have six check box columns that display fine in a c1gridview. Then, in the gridview, I change this

    <wijmo:C1CommandField CausesValidation="False" ButtonType="Link" ShowSelectButton="True"  />

    to this:

    <wijmo:C1CommandField CausesValidation="False" ButtonType="Link" ShowSelectButton="True" ShowDeleteButton="True" />

    When I do this, the last check box column just displays the text 'true' or 'false' and ceases to be a check box. None of the other columns are affected. Any ideas?

    Hello,

    1. The new value will not be added to the C1ComboBox list items automatically until you manually add it to the item. The test typed in a C1ComboBox can be retrieved in code behind using the code as follows:

      string txt = C1ComboBox1.Text;

    I used the following code to create the C1ComboBox :
    <wijmo:C1ComboBox ID="C1ComboBox1" runat="server" IsEditable ="true" >
    <Items>
    <wijmo:C1ComboBoxItem Text="One" />
    <wijmo:C1ComboBoxItem Text="Two" />
    <wijmo:C1ComboBoxItem Text="Three" />
    <wijmo:C1ComboBoxItem Text="Four" />
    <wijmo:C1ComboBoxItem Text="Five" />
    </Items>
    </wijmo:C1ComboBox>

    2. We are not sure whether you are generating the columns in code or automatically. I am not able to replicate this issue when I am adding the column using the code :
      <Columns>
    <wijmo:C1CommandField CausesValidation="False" ButtonType="Link" ShowSelectButton="True" ShowDeleteButton="True" />
    </Columns>

    Please test the attached sample application for both issues and let me know if you need further assistance.

    Hello Deepak,

    I've tried:
     Dim txt As String = cboType.Text

    and it does not work.

    In your example, if 'Three' is the initial value of the combobox, and the user overwrites this to 'ThirtyThree', then the value 'Three' remains and is returned in the code behind. I have had to put the C1Combobox in an update panel.

    Hello,

    It works well at my end. When I type "Thirty Three" in combo and get the Text in code behind it gives me the correct typed string. The value would remain the earlier selected value.

    Thanks,

    Update
    -------

    After much investigation, I have narrowed the C1combobox problem down to the C1Tabs control. Once I removed the C1Tabs, the problem went away.
    I believe the problem is where there is a C1Combobox on a C1Tabs.

    I will see if the grid problems are also related to the C1Tabs.

    The Grid/Check box column also doesn't happen when I remove the C1Tabs.

    So it looks like the C1Tabs was the culprit for both problems.

    The problem has been resolved by not using C1tabs.

    Thanks.

    Hi Deepak,

    I've investigated the sample you've provided. I notice that it uses a load of jquery.

    Is there a way of accessing the current text value of a C1combobox, in code behind, without resorting to jquery? - I am unable to get jquery working with componentone controls.

    For the C1gridexample, to replicate the problem you will need to bind to a datasource with 6 Boolean type fields - so they (should) display as check boxes. Then when the 'Delete' column is added, the last Boolean column becomes text instead of a check box.

    Sorry, please ignore above post about jquery/combobox.
