[activereports_archive]I have a report with 3 sections of FormattedText. The formatted text is edited using TinyMCE control and when I format text at bold, it wraps the text in a -strong-text-/strong- tags. These display correctly on the HTML Report viewer, but when I print or export to PDF I do not see the bold styling. I’ve gone into the SQL database and replaced the -strong- tags with -b- and that doesn’t work either.

Why is html rendering correctly on screen but not in export or print?[/activereports_archive]

    [activereports_archive]Hi

W could not reproduce the issue at our end using ActiveReport11 “11…1.9726.0”. THe exported pdf file shows bold text properly just like HTML Viewer.

I have uploaded a sample application for you to test at your end and share with us your observations:

[activereports_archive]When I open your report in Active Reports 11 Viewer and export the Formatted Text report Bold doesn’t work. See attached. The Bold font shows up on the screen, but not in the export.[/activereports_archive]

    [activereports_archive]Hi,

Could you please share the exact ActiveReports version you are using? If you are not using the ActiveReports11 “11.1.9726.0” then we suggest you to download the same from the following url and try testing the application with the same:

    cdn.grapecity.com/ActiveReports/ar11/ActiveReports-v11.1.9726.0.msi

    Thanks & Regards

[activereports_archive]I am using 11.1.9726.0. When I open the FormattedText.rdl report from the sample app you sent me with ActiveReports 11 Viewer I can see the bold font. When I print to PDF using Foxit Reader PDF Print driver I see the bold font (see attached FormattedText.pdf), When I export from the File Menu/Export to Portable Document Format (PDF) and choose PDF 1.4 (default) I get no bold formatting (see attached ActiveReports11.pdf). I’ve tried other PDF format options on the export and none have worked.

When you export to PDF are you seeing the bold font?

Also, when I print to a printer it works. Only export does not work.[/activereports_archive]

    [activereports_archive]Hello,

Thank you for sharing more information.

However, we still could not reproduce the issue at our end. Please refer to the attached video.

What Adobe version are you using, we have “2017.009.20044” Abode Acrobat Reader DC at our end.

Also, were you able to replicate the issue even when you run the Visual Studio application and click on “Export to PDF” button (after viewing the report by clicking “View” button) in browser.

I have uploaded the sample application once again for you to test:

My Adobe Reader is current (17.009.20044) as is my Foxit Reader. The reader has no bearing on this issue. If I can see bold font with print to PDF but not export, then the viewer can obviously see bold font, since it shows it on one.

    Answer me this one question…

If you open the FormattedText.rdlx from the example application you sent me in ActiveReports 11 Viewer, and click File/Export on the top menu, choose PDF as the format and save the file, does the file show the bold font when you view it in Acrobat Reader? does it print bold font when you print the exported PDF?

If the answer is no, then you are seeing what I’m seeing and there is a problem Exporting PDF files from the Viewer app. I would assume the library behind this function is the same as what I’d be calling from the code I write, since I’m observing the same issue there.

Also, I have run your example application and I observe the same problem I see in the AR11 Viewer and my application.[/activereports_archive]

    [activereports_archive]Hi,

Yes I could export the report to PDF format and see the font bold in exported PDF File. Please refer to attached video “FormattedTextBold.gif”.

Are you using ActiveReports11 Standard edition? If yes, then I would like to inform you that Standard edition does not support Bold in PDF Export. For detailed comparison between two editions, please refer to following documentation link:

That’s the reason. We have Standard version.[/activereports_archive]

I was able to do this on Standard edition by explicitly setting the font-face of the body element inside my Rich Text Box.
