What's New in Spread.NET v14

Pittsburgh, PA – November 20, 2020 GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce the Spread. NET v14 software release. The highlights of Spread. NET v14 includes new platform support for .NET 5 and .NET Core 3.1 Windows Forms, cell data types for .NET objects, hyperlink enhancements, and much more. These features expand developers’ capabilities within their .NET applications when building high-performance enterprise spreadsheets. Spread. NET v14 is now available as an upgrade for existing customers and a download for new customers on GrapeCity’s website.

Spread. NET v14 includes a new NuGet package for .NET 5 and .NET Core 3.1 WinForms. With this new package, users can create WinForms applications using the Spread controls in .NET 5 and .NET Core 3.1 and port existing WinForms projects using Spread. NET controls. The new NuGet package also supports multi-targeting. Since design-time support is limited in the new platforms, it is recommended to continue using the full framework (.NET 4.5.2 and later) controls in regular .NET WinForms projects. To learn more about building WinForms applications using Spread’s .NET 5 controls, read the full release.

Cell Data Types are a significant new enhancement in Spread. NET v14 WinForms. With this new feature, users can create a custom data type by defining a class and implementing the data type properties. To help speed the creation of custom cell data types, the Spread team has implemented built-in support for wrapping a DataTable or a DataView inside a cell data type. Additionally, Cell Data Types can return array values that spill to adjacent cells when dynamic arrays are enabled. To learn more about using Cell Data Types, read the full release.

With enhancements to hyperlink support, users can easily create a table of contents or workbook index with links to essential sections organized in cells or shapes. With the HYPERLINK function, .NET developers can create a hyperlink in the cell and specify the text to display. These links can now target cell locations, named ranges, and table names, as well as email addresses, web site, and file links. For a more in-depth look at the hyperlink support, read the full release.
