Spread is too slow

    Hi

I am working with win spread version 3 on VS2005 c# and I am having some performance issues with the grid in general, for instance when I change the focus from one cell to another, or when I expand on level.

My first thought was it was a data related issue, I was showing 105 records with 3 levels each (2 rows each level), later I tried just showing 10 records (same levels) and it is still too slow.

It was working properly in the previous version.

Attached is a picture of the type of info I am using

    Any clues?

    Looking forward to your response

    Thanks

    Hello,

I am not able to reproduce this issue you are seeing. What release of Spread are you using? What steps do I need to take to reproduce this issue?

We just posted a maintenance release for v2.5 if you would like to try that and see if it fixes your database issue.

The main reason we want to upgrade the control is we want to get rid of a bug related with datasets. This new version of the spread fixes that bug (At least we haven't been able to reproduce it any more)

I am preparing a small project, database (SQL server) and webservice so you guys can take a look into it

    Thanks

If anything the performance should have improved.  Could you post a small zipped project reproducing your issue for us to debug?

The realease is Spread for Windows Forms 3 version 03.00.2000

And the problem is : Once the information is loaded, if you click on cell and later click on another one, it takes around three-five seconds to focus on that cell. This is a problem for us becuase there are some cells that are editable (the ones at the most inner level) and when users wants to move from one cell to another it takes a lot of time.

The version that is working without performance issues is 1090 (VS2003). We upgraded our project to vs2005 and we wanted to upgrade the grid as well becuase the 1090 version had some issues related with datatables and another ones related with scroll bars.

The version 2.0 did not fix those two issues. Later I read that the version 2.5 fixes the issue related to datatables but now it is too slow and now I'm trying the version 3 and it still have the same problem =)

Attached is the project and database (sql server 2005). In order to run the project you need to modify the connection string on both AWI.VCC.PFS.Forms project and PFSService projects. It is desired to unzip the project file on C drive, otherwise you need to provide the complete path of the AWI.VCC.PFS\AWI.VCC.PFS.Forms\Configuration\Formula.xml file on the AWI.VCC.PFS.Forms\app.config file. For example:

I made a test on a clean PC using the files attached (only with VS2005 and the version 3 of the spread ) and it compiles properly.

This is the link where you can download the file

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I got the same problem with 3.0 for WinForm using VS2005. Is the problem solved?

Where is the istraceview property? I could not find it in spread designer.

    Thank you.

I've just recorded how to reproduce the issue. You can download the file from:

    http://www.4shared.com/file/18881033/7804603c/PFS.html

As you can see everytime that I clic on each cell it takes time to get the focus. It might be hard to really figure out the real time when I am clicking on the cell, but I can tell is: I am clicking right after you see the mouse pointer on the cell. Another thing is when I am trying to enter some numbers in one cell, those vaules do not show up immediately as well.

Please let me know what are your thoughts about it

    Hello,

I am still not able to run your project. There are a lot of things that need to be set up that I am not sure how to complete, so I can not debug this. I know we made a lot of changes in version 3 that would speed up processing of the cell clicks on the Spread. However, I do not know this speed versus how it was in version 1.0.9.0. I do know we added new functionality in version 2 of Spread for Windows Forms that would cause painting to be slower than version 1. I would suggest trying to turn off the AutoUpdateNotes property of Spread to see if this speeds up the painting for you.

If it does not, could you send us a small zipped project reproducing the issue you are seeing for us to debug?

    Hello, scotts

Please check the attachment to see the problem. It's very slow while you click one childview to another.

    Hello,

I think this customer was talking about IsTrackingViewState property, but this is a property of the Spread for Web Forms product only. What about the Spread control are you finding slow? Could you post a small zipped project reproducing this issue for us to debug?
